Revisiting the "C" Word

So my dad had his first appointment with the oncologist on Monday. They believe the cancer is isolated to just his esophagus. There were two small spots in the tissue surronding the tumor so it hasn't spread to much. He had Chemo Training and a port installed on Wednesday. Friday he gets his feeding tube and Monday he begins 2 cycles of Chemo (6 weeks). After that they will do another scan to see how much the cancer has shrunk and proceed with Chemo and Radiation. After that they will schedule surgery. Because my dad's tumor is in his esophagus at the opening of his stomach they will remove that portion of his esophagus and reform the stomach to replace his missing esophagus. The doctor said that it is a very difficult surgery and requires a very long recovery time. Owen and I are flying up to visit with my family the last weekend of February. Please pray for my Dad for healing and the cancer will be destroyed and not return.
